2020 property review

2020 HAS CERTAINLY BEEN A YEAR TO REMEMBER! LET'S FIND OUT THE LATEST FROM THE PROPERTY MARKET!

Well, what can we say about 2020?! It has certainly been an interesting year. We’re pleased to say that 2020 has actually turned out to be pretty positive for the housing market. With house prices rising and rental properties in high demand, we feel privileged and extremely lucky to be part of a profession that has faired the Covid storm so far. To be able to help so many people find their dream home in our beautiful area is wonderful and what we've always enjoyed.

Like many other businesses, when the first lockdown hit in March, we were unsure of the effect that it might have on the property market. We quickly adapted to working from home. Already having the technical set up in place, we were able to continue to provide the same great service remotely. It was a pleasure to be able to enable several people to complete their house moves during the lockdown and support landlords in managing their properties.

During this scary time, we were conscious that people were feeling fearful. Our priority was to keep our staff and customers safe by following our stringent Covid guidelines which consisted of wearing masks, sanitising our hands and maintaining social distancing at all times. We were fortunate that estate agents were able to remain open during the second lockdown, enabling us to support people in person with their house sales and purchases.

Fortunately for homeowners, the housing market has faired very well during the Covid pandemic, with house prices rising, putting sellers in a great position to make that move up the housing ladder. There is no doubt that the Chancellor’s Stamp Duty Holiday has helped to maintain this positive trend. With buyers paying no Stamp duty on the first £500,000 of a house purchase until March 2021, meaning a saving of up to £15,000. We saw an influx of new business, with people wanting to make the most of these big savings, leading to us recruiting a new member to join our sales team, Chris, who joined as Sales Manager at our Bursledon office.

We are pleased to announce that our recent refurbishment of the Bursledon office is now complete, giving both the exterior and interior a facelift, bringing it in line with the Brambles branding. The new signage is striking with its LED lighting and crisp graphics. A full-length window now gives extra space to display those all-important property listings and lets extra light into the branch. The interior is fresh, well-lit and features our ‘map’ wall décor as in the Warsash branch. It really is a welcoming place to visit!
